1. The Care of Our Farm Animals (ar lean)

   We keep the hens in the fowl house. There are four boxes and two old pots in the fowl house. The hens lay in these. We put straw in the pots and boxes every morning. We brush the fowlhouse every morning. We white - wash the walls often to prevent sickness and disease among the hens. The hens sleep on perches which are fixed across the fowlhouse. The door is in two parts. The upper part is left open during the day to let in the light and the sunshine. In the lower part there is a trap door. This is left open during the day to let the hens in and out. It is closed at night. The hens are fed three times each day, in the morning, at midday and every evening.
   When we want to hatch eggs we make a nice nest with straw in one of the boxes in the fowlhouse. We put about twelve eggs in the nest and we put a cluck -
