- The most harmful weeds growing on our farm are: - nettles, banikean thistles, docks and ferns. The docks (capógs) are harmful because they spread rapidly. They grow on dry and grassy land or with hay. If they are not pulled before the seeds ripen the seeds fall off and grow up again. Nettles grow in dykes and are chopped and given to hens and turkeys Caisearbhán grows in meadows and it is given to the hens and pigs to eat. The thistles grow with hay oats or wheat. The horses eat them. Banikean is poisonous(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
