  1. Local Customs.
    On the feast of St. Stephen boys and girls dress up in strange attire. Some of them bring a fiddle and they play music and others dance. Then someone has a money box and he passes it round to the people of the house and they put money in it.
    They go to another house and they dance and play and when they have finished they get money. They continue this until evening.
    When they have their rounds done they divide the money between themselves and spend it.
    On St. John's Eve a crowd of boys and girls gather together and go to the nearest cross-roads. When they reach the cross-roads they they gather turf and sticks and light a bone-fire.
    Then they start dancing and singing around it, and some old people gather and tell stories. When the bone-fire is over everyone brings home a coal
