Some of them would wear old ragged clothes and others would have new clothes on. They would get a reception and tea and wine would be given them to drink.
There were certain days very unlucky for getting married other days were lucky such as "Monday for health, Tuesday for wealth, Wednesday the best day of all. Thursday for losses, Friday for Crosses, Saturday is no day at all."
