    Some of the people carried them on their backs and others had to bring them with donkeys and creels to the places in which they were to be sold. Tinkers came to the houses collecting glass pots and giving pins and needles in exchange for them. All day the people were out in the gardens looking for the pots to have for the tinkers in the evening, and to get the articles in exchange for them.
    Some of the people who were unable to pay for the articles they bought gave a day or two labour in exchange to the person they got the article from. Some people got provisions of stuff on "tick" or on "strap" which it is often called. Hucksters and dealers went round the country gathering rags and feathers for which they gave in exchange ballads and pins.
