- Long ago Ballinakill was a very industrious town. There was weaving, baking, milling and brewing carried on extensively in it. There were two mills about half a mile outside the town situated in a placed called Ironmills, a flour mill and an oaten mill and the ruins of them are to be seen still. All the shops carried on the weaving industry. All the people used a weave their own clothes and there was a great demand for them. There were five bakeries belonging to different people. The brewery was situated in a lane called the Brewery Lane. A great number of people were employed at the different industries and there was a great sitr in the town and a big population.
