“Once upon a time a man had three sons. The youngest was called Dummling and he was ill-treated by the whole family. One day the eldest son took it into his head to go into the wood to cut fuel.”

It was the little man caused him that harm. Next went out the second son to work and his Mother gave him a cake and a bottle of wine and the same old man met him also and asked him for some to eat and drink but he said "What ever you get I shall lose. So go your way. The little man said that he would not forget to send him his reward and the second stroke he aimed against a tree hit him on the leg so that he too was forced to go home(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
