    from it a shallow stream possesses a Cromlech. The local inhabitants all take it very much for granted and call it a Druids Altar.
    Like so many of its kind, three or four of the upright stones have now sunk into the ground and consequently the top stone is no longer in its horizontal position. On my last visit to the Cromlech it was utilised to shelter farm implements, ropes, and bags of artificial manures. Incidentally the field which contains this precious piece of antiquity had been newly ploughed; proof positive that our country folk had now no fears of the pagan gods. A certain field in Shanbogh knows as the Church field, will I venture to say, remain unploughed while it remains in the present owner's family. More anon.
