    According to Fr. Corrigan, Ballygurrim signifies O'Mulgurrim's Town - Baile Uí Mhaoil-ghuirm. It is in the parish of Glenmore, quiet adjacent to Shanbo and was at one time a parish, having a parish church of its own.

    The Ballygurrim Sluagh according to Tommy Cassin (confirmed by Ned Fortune) is a band of fairies residing in Ballygurrim. They play hurling and football across the fields on certain nights and the sound of the ball is often heard.
