  1. My Mother told me that, long ago if the people saw anybody dying they would not leave that person in the bed to die. They would put straw on the floor and leave the person dying on it, as soon as they heard what they called the "Death rattle" in the throat.
    When the corpse would be cold three neighbouring women would wash it. They would put one table lengthways and another crossways and spread sheets on them. They would put one sheet over the roof of the kitchen and two others on the wall beside the corpse. If it was an old person they would put a brown habit and if it was a young person a white habit.
    Then they would put a place of tobacco and a clay pipe beside the corpse. Every man that would come in would get a pipe
