- I have a churn at home in which we made butter. It is three feet and 6 inches in height It is two feet wide at the top and two feet and eight inches at the bottom. It is about thirty years old.
There are different parts in the churn, such as the churn staff, the cup, and the board. The churn staff is a long stick with a bit of wood fixed on top of in the shape of a cross. This stick is used for stricking the cream to made it into butter. The cup is a round piece of wood with a hole in it. It is put on to keep the cream from splashing.
Milk is churned about once a week i Winter and about twice a week in Summer.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
