When the enemies of the Monks would come on them the Monks used to go into the towers and bring the sacred vessels of the chapel with them.
The round towers were from fifteen to twenty feet at the bottom and from eighty to one hundred and fifty feet in height. The door was about twelve feet from the ground. They used to go up by a ladder and when they were all in they used to pull the ladder in after them(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
