- There was many a big storm but there never was any storm as big as that of the "Night of the Big Wind."
It started on the 6th January 1839. It killed people and it knocked down their houses. It blew the fish on the sea to the shore. It knocked houses about like straws.
There was a man, his wife, and two children in their home in his neighborhood. When they heard the wind blow. They rolled the two children in a blanket and left them behind in a ditch until they would get the furniture out of the house. When they went back to the ditch to see about the children they were gone and they were never seen or heard tell of.
