If there was a room hay or corn was kept there too. The floors were of clay. Half doors were very common till within the last 10 or 12 years.
Rushlights made of reeds or rushes dipped in tallow were used. Turf and sticks or brosna are still the common fuel for fire.
- Shops were not very common in the olden times but for the last fifty years have been plentiful in this district. It is considered unlucky to sell anything or change money on St Stephen's Day (This I believe is(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
