  1. Ban-shees
Long ago the people used to believe in the unknown such as fairies, mermaids, and ban-shees. It is said that when the mermaid is seen a drowning will take place. the ban-shee is a small woman and she is always dressed in white. She cries after members of certain families. I never saw a ban-shee myself but I can tell about people that saw her and heard her cry There are three families in Easkey and when any of them dies the ban-shee always cry after them. One night a man heard a ban-shee crying in the old cemetery and he said shi then she stopped crying. A ban-shee is a fairy woman and would not harm any person.
