- We have a churn at home. It is made of wood and stands about 2 feet off the ground. It has rounded sides which are bulged out so that it is wider than it is high. It is a modern churn. There are no very old churns about here. The top and bottom are about a foot wide. Some people still churn in a creamery can. It is about five years old. The parts are called the handle, the dash, the butter bowl, (a basin shaped bowl made of wood into which the fresh butter is put) the dabbler or joggler + the churn itself.
