- Carrowrile School was built about the year 1870 A.D. It was built beside the river because that was a bit of waste ground that belonged to nobody. The money was collected from the people in Rinbane and Carrowrile. Before Carrowrile School was built there was an old dwelling house of Michael Hamilton's and there was where the people went ot be learned. There was two teachers in Carrowrile School at the start. Their names were James Connell and Miss Burke. They were learning English, arithmetic and Latin but they learned Irish that time.
