And since you get married your wife often criedDoyle replied and wound up by saying:-D stands for Doyle of fame and renown and M for MacGovern the hungry hound.The youth replied:-D stands for Divil and D stands for Doyle and D stand for Dolan that is joined to the broil.Your Doyle for the divil, your Doyle for all strife, your Doyle for misfortune, and God help your wife.It went on in this strain on many verses 'till Doyle gave in, he was beaten. This boy alluded to, was a son of the most famed of the rhymers MacGoverns; their descendants still live in the place, but there is nothing of rhyme in 'em. There is a family named Mulvarnity one of whom is still alive whose mother is one of the rhymers, they could make a piece of poetry on anything they'd think of. The following is a sample. About 36 years ago, when the potato spraying came to this district first, they made a piece of poetry on the many good qualities of it, here is a verse of same:-(continues on next page)- Collector
