On St Brigid's night crosses are made from rushes and a cross is placed over the door of the dwelling house and of each one of the out-houses.
This is done in order to bring St. Brigid's blessing on the homes.
For weeks before Easter children are busy making "Easter Houses", structures of stones, wood and rushes.
