    There is a cave or hole in Gurteen, Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim on the Gurteen mountains and it is known as "Teampaill Teirhric." People often throw stones into this hole and listen amusingly to them descending, as they make a noise as if they were hopping downstairs. There is a boy called Mark Rooney living in Diffreen, a townland in the neighbourhood of the Gurteen mountains and one day his grandfather was going to the bog (when he was a gosoon) and he had to pass "Teampaill Tierhric" on his way. As he was passing he threw in a few stones, listened to them for a while and then continued on his way. When he was coming back he threw in a few more, but before the poor gosoon could continue on his way out came a big red-haired woman. It wasn't enough for you to break the pot on the fire an hour ago" she said "until you had to strike the child in my arms this minute." So saying she gave him a
