There was once a man in the olden days and he met with a great misfortune one time. He was now fairly old, but he was a very respectable man.
He used to go to work to a certain field every morning and return every evening.
One day as he was going to work he saw a little mermaid sitting on a river bank. The mermaid was combing her hair and when she saw the man she flung the comb after him.
A sort of curse fell on the poor man then and a short time afterwards he withered and died.
