- There was once a woman in Abbey, Ballyglunin, who had a cow that was sick. She told Mary Daly of Caranea, Ballyglunin her story. Mary Daly was said to have a charm.She brought something with her to the place where the cow was, and put it under the cow's side and the cow got up and went grazing. Another man's cow then came, and lay down on the same spot and never got up out of it till she died.
