    Long ago many people used to go to Australia and America when they would have sell their land for rates.
    There are many woods in the Demesne in Portumna, Clarks, wood, Cearty's wood, Ring Mohair, Bonaveen, and Silks-Wood. Which are owned by Lord Las-Cells
    The Boula river is about three miles from Portumna and is very useful for trout fishing.
    About a half mile from Portumna is a stream called Bloody Bridge. It is so called because the men in Stoney Island used to fight the strange men on a fair day for camping there.
