- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)The Abbey is in a fairly good state of preservation as the priests and teachers aided by the townspeople built the walls and cut some old oak trees that were in decay and likely to fall at any time and cause damage to a beautiful cut stone window in the chancel of the Abbey about two years ago. A legend is told locally of a Dominican who lived in the Abbey whose room was seen brilliantly lighted by night by a blueish flame all the rest of the Abbey being clothed in darkness. He was consulted as an oracle by all persons in difficulty and doubt and is believed to have made himself invisible when he chose. He was a very pious man, and spent his nights in prayer and on one occasion a poor woman complained the landlord wanted a good piece of land she had and as she was very poor, she didn't like to part with it; she told the Dominican and the landlord was immediately struck blind and didn't recover his sight for several years afterwards.
