   They always had the fires in the gableends of the houses.
   The partitions they had were mats made of straw and they had pegs in through the mats for hanging up the cups and mugs.
   There was a bed in a corner of the kitchen near the fire it was called a hackmok.
   The floors were of clay and some of them were flags.
   They had timber stools. To make a stool they put a board over each of two stones.
   They used to put out the table in the centre of the floor where there was a big family but where there was a small family they had the table beside the wall.
   They used to have a skib which they made themselves of little sallie rods. They put this little skib in the centre of the floor and put the potatoes in to it and got their stools and sat
