  1. I have heard of some emblems, and here they are.
    On St. Brigid's Day the farmers give out little straw crosses to the people. They get two single pieces of straw, ones about four inches long and the other two inches and stitch them together. People hang them behind their doors for luck.
    There are also St. Patrick's Day crosses. These can be made either at home or bought in the shops. They are pieces of green ribbon about two or three inches long, and made in the form of a cross stitched on to a circular piece of paper. Children wear them on St. Patrick's to honour him.
    At Christmas every-body hangs up holly on the walls to decorate the house in honour of the birth of "Our Lord". On May-eve children have May bushes. They also get
