“A story is told about a ghost that was seen in the church which was at Clonmany - a small village on the north of Inishowen.”
A story is told about a ghost that was seen in the church which was at Clonmany - a small village on the north of Inishowen.
In this village was a man named Gaddy Dubh, a name meaning black thief. Gaddy had a companion as good at stealing as himself and one night they agreed that they would have a good feed no matter where they would get it.
Gaddy himself went into the church and lit a big fire and his companion went somewhere and stole a sheep.
They had vessels to cook their stolen stuff, and Gaddy had all ready and was waiting for the other man to come with the sheep. Two neighbours-one a Protestant and the other a Catholic who lived each about half-a-mile from the church were in the habit of visiting each other's house and they had to pass the church.
This night the Catholic man saw the light in the church.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
