- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)do not travel about but they do the sewing in their own homes. The tailors stock the cloth but sometimes the people buy their own cloth from pedlars going about. There is no cloth spun or woven locally but in olden times it used to be all spun locally. About thirty five years ago there lived a weaver in Barnes Gap. Everybody went to this weaver to get wool woven. When a tailor is sewing he sits on a square board with his legs crossed. The implements used by a tailor are : a pair of scissors, a needle, a strong sewing-machine, a thimble, a tape a smoothing iron, a board for pressing clothes on, and a yard-stick.The shirts are made either with a tailor or a dressmaker and they are also bought in shops. Cotton cloth is used for making the shirts. Linen is also used for making shirts. Most of the socks and stockings are knitted locally. Most of the thread is spun in the homes. There are six spinning-wheels in this district.
