Ar an leathanach seo
- There is a road passing my home called the "brohan" road (passes Gartan).
In the time of the famine brohan was given to the old people for the making of this road.
The law at that time was that the Government would give them a noggin of brohan in the day as relief and they were glad to get it as they would eat anything. This was the first year of the Relif about ninety seven or ninety years ago. Men that were lifting stones for this road go ten pence per day and had to live on a noggin of Indian brohan. The road leads from Loughaskenny bridge to Gartan Gap.- Bailitheoir
