- About a quarter of a mile west of the village of Ballintra there are the ruins of an old Abbey. This is called Racoo. There is supposed to be an under-ground passage from Racoo to another famous place called Drumholm. Drumholm is about three miles west of the village of Ballintra. In Racoo there is an old grave yard. The mother of seven bishops is supposed to be buried there. There are still small stones marking out the graves. There is also a small holy well at the bottom of a big field. The water of this well can cure soar eyes. This field is about six acres. It belongs to Mr. Hamilton. One year Mr. Hamilton closed the hold well and sowed the field with corn. In a few months the hold well flooded the field from top to bottom. Mr. Hamilton had to open the well because it would have covered the whole farm. There was not one sheaf of corn is the six acre field that year.
