The disposal of the after-birth was carefully regulated by custom. On no account was it to be buried. It was always placed high up on a bush as ato be well out of the way of prowling dogs and was left there until it had completely disappeared through the action of wind and weather.
- The "Udder"An animal's udder was always spoken of as the 'Elder'. The term 'udder' was never heard. I have been unable to trace the origin of this word 'Elder'. Is it of Irish origin(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
