In 1907 a weekly Irish class taught by Eamonn Ó Tuathail was inaugurated under the auspices of the Gaelic League in the Aghnafarcon district. The work continued up to 1909 and it was a huge success. The older people who could speak Irish took a keen interest in the classes, and their grown up sons and daughters assiduously threw themselves into the study of Irish. Unfortunately the classes after 1909 lapsed, and with the lapse disappeared for ever the hope of securing the preservation of another Gaedhealthacht.
