  2. A man named Farrell led the pike-men against the garrison Three times the garrison charged but the pike-men beat them back with many losses. Then the pike-men having won the victory so far charged them and completly routed them. Then they went on to Kilcullen where the Infantry garrison put them to flight with heavy losses. This was one of the great battles of 1798.
