  1. There are four smiths in this area namely Messers. Kelly, Monaghan, Ffrench and Myers. The second named is aged 72 and is still working. His forge is situated in Two-mile-house. His bellow, fire and anvil is on the left-hand-side of the forge and a stone "trow" in which his father made pikes in '98 on the right hand side. His forefathers were smiths.
    My father (Ffrench) has his forge in Kilcullen. His grandfather was a smith, and lived in Baldoyle, Co Dublin where the forge still stands and my uncle works there. The
