    My father told me that in olden times Hallowe'en was a great time of sport and tricks. One of the pastime was ducking in a tub of water for money and apples. Boys and girls used to go around to the neighbours' houses dressed up and dance and sing. Other tricks were takeing away gates ploughs and traps and hiding them some distance
