    May day. 21-5-38
    The usual custom of the people on May Eve to collect a heap of branches off a tree known as Quick Beam or Mountain Ash .They used throw them on the middle of the floor first.Then they used get a bottle of Easter holy water and shake it on them.They used stick one branch under the rafter of the house and then another in the dung pit and they used go off around the gardens with the rest of it.
    They used stick a branch on every crop and they had always a fear that their crops would be stolen on that night.Some old people used remain up all night watching their cows and crops.They had a belief that certain people would come and milk their cows and take away the luck of their butter and also some -
