    Long ago the food the people had was to scrape potatoes and put a grain of salt in it and make bread called boxty. This they eat in the morning and more of the times the eat potatoes and salt and water.
    They never brought bread to school for they used not have it half the time.They used stirabout for their supper and their dinner .They used to boil Indian meal and let it boil boil up hard and then eat it .often the children would get no dinner when they came home from school but wait until they had the stirabout for
