  1. There was an old man here years ago who in his youth used to go to work in England periodically and he told me that he used to walk from his own house to Dublin a distance of 90 miles between Sunrise one day and Sunrise the next. He did most of the walking in the cool of the day and he got the boat at Dublin for England where he remained working at the Harvest and when returning home from England in the winter he walked back home from Dublin.
Children too acquired the art of walking early in life because they were sent out to school in their feet and told walk as hard as they could and not be late. Schools were often miles away from the pupils in those days and what fine men and women those same boys became in after years.
