  1. The potato crop is grown in my district and in almost every part of the country. When setting potatoes my father prepares the ground and manures it. He leaves about an acre and a half of land for potatoes each year. The farmers sow the potatoes in ridges and in drills. The drills are made with a double mould-board plough and the ridges are made with a spade or a "laidhe".
