    reached the old oak tree. It was a bright night and he had no light to show him where to dig. He had not gone away far when he heard a slight noise behind him and looking around he got the fright of his life for standing there he saw the faint outline of a man dressed in white standing behind him.
    Go away and don't come here again said the stranger and the man got up his pick and shovel and went home as quickly as he could.
    But he was not to be frightened so easily and if that box of gold was there he was going to get it.
    So the next night he went there but the same night
