  1. On the 15th August 1935 my brother aged seven years was playing with other little boys on the bank of the river Shannon. They started pelting stones at fish in the water when one little boy came behind my brother and gave him a push into the Canal just in the spot where the water was very deep. It happened that Mr. Barton a shopkeeper in New Street, Killaloe was standing on the Aile-Bawn and seeing what happened ran to his assistance immediately and in so doing dislocated his shoulder but with great difficulty succeeded in
