  1. In this district there is no better time for beginning to learn something about the birds than on a snowy Winter day. A bird is far more easily seen among the leafless hedges and trees than among the thick Summer foliage. During the Summer in this district the songs of the different birds are all joined in one great chorus. On the snowy day only the robin redbreast sits on the hedge. There are numerous stories in this
