- Tea was got in this district about seventy years ago. It cost 8½d an ounce. The people were glad to get an ounce and it would do them for a week. The old people in a house would only get tea and it would be made in the morning. It was made in a porringer.
- Long ago the people made pancake on Shrove tuesday. They fried fish on the tongs and ate them to potatoes. On Shrove tuesday they took for dinner bacon eggs and potatoes. Then they would take no bacon(continues on next page)
