  1. Mrs McCabe lived in the Ballybay Rd about 2 1/2 miles from Cootehill. Her husband was dead about 35 years. She too is dead now. At the time if her great walk she had living with her a little boy of 4 yrs.
    Mrs McCabe nick named "The Pack" felt she was going to die and so she set out to walk to Dublin carrying the child. She wished to see her daughter who was a parlour maid in Dublin for she knew she'd never see her again. She walked the whole way & back in a few days. She died a month after coming home. Her daughter who had been a parlour maid now lives in her mothers house.
