An Englishman, sea-captain, used to call in at Kilbaha and stayed at a local house - Peter Gibson's. Wanted to marry the girl Gibson's daughter who was very beautiful but she declined. Song was composed over 60 years ago but only 3 verses are remembered now by Mrs. J. Naughton of Kilkee.
Is fada me ar an mbaile seo
Agus ní raibh fhios agam ce b'fearr ann

    Le Plannda Geal Catháineach*
    Ba é (yay) siúd a fíor-dhúchais dóibh
    "Sgur sot" den pharáiste**
Agus sé dubhairt leabhar an úghdair dóibh
Go mba sliocht na mban ab'fhearr íad.
    Chúis Cúghainn Stúmpa Sasanaigh,
A bhí comh buidhe le tawny,
    Ar thuairisc óig-bhean mhaisibhil ***
    A roinnfeadh na táinte
    Dá geallamhaint den Aingil Cailcigh
Dá sínfeadh sí go bráth leis
Go bheadh bá & long ar mhuir aca
Agus iad ag imtheacht fé na seólta.
