- Most people get married during Shrove The lucky days to get married are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The couple are married in the church now, but long ago they were married sometimes in the brides house.
Marriages are made in a funny way in this district.
The couple do not see one another until a couple of days before they get married When a man wants to get his son married he looks around for a suitable girl. When he finds her, the parents of the boy and the parents of the girl meet in some town and then they agree about the marriage.
A few nights afterwards a party is held at the girls house. It is called the "picking of the gander." If they agree at the party the couple are married within a week.
On the day of the wedding all the friends of the bride and the bride-groom come to(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
