    It is also told that when Cromwell and his soldiers were travelling to Clonmel they decided to make a short cut through the Knockmeal down mountains. When they reached Bay Lough that wicked witch, Petticoat Loose would not allow them to pass. It a fit o rage one of the soldiers her and threw her into the lake and then they continued their journey to Clonmel.
