  1. Once upon a time there lived in a remote part of Connacht two little boys whose mother dies when they were very young. Their father got married again and their stepmother was very cruel to them.
    Their job every day was to gather sticks.
    When they came home with the sticks all that they got for their supper was a few potatoes and a cup of buttermilk and then they had to go to bed.
