present day the mountain getting the name the Devils Bet mountain. The devil was chased from Cashel to Barylough and when he got over the mountain at Barylough the boys gave up the chase and from that day to this he has not dared to enter Tipperary. When I was a young man over sixty years ago the following verse was very popular:-
When the Devil came to Tipperary O
He found the boys cross and contrary O
They walloped him well and drove him to hell
The brave gallant boys of Tipperary O.
