- Dublin road leads from Limerick to Dublin. Long ago this road was called the old coach road, there were many Toll Houses on this road, and some of these were removed, as they were erected at dangerous corners.Another local road which still remains is known as the Island Bawn road. The number of roads, which leads off this, to different places in former days were called "bridle paths" because a man could only travel with a saddled horse.Where Bourne's Lane is now, a road once went out through Smithfield, and went on to the Limerick road at Clare Street. It is now closed up, and the field in which it was, is now owned by Mr. J.W. Robinson who has built a house in it.Where Castle Street is now, it was once a field. Holton's Lane was a road which led out on to Wolfe Tone Terrace and from that on to the Limerick road.
